Drive for Innovation talks with us at Maker Faire

Just wanted to give a shout out to the guys over at Drive for Innovation, as I really enjoyed speaking with them. We were at Maker Faire Detroit a few weeks ago to show off a few of our latest projects and received a lot of interest in what we’re developing. Here’s a short video of me speaking with Brian Fuller of Drive for Innovation:

Drive for Innovation – All hail Mantis, the open-source robot

We’ve got more videos/projects on the way, so stay tuned!

Projects in the Pipeline

Hello Tech Junkies fans!

Just wanted to give an update on our status and the projects we’ve been working on the past several months. In the future the format of our show may change slightly. We are currently planning on releasing shorter “quick tip” videos in addition to our larger project videos.

That being said, here are a few things we’ve been developing and will be creating video demonstrations of in the near future:

-Building large scale robots (Arduino-based control system + Android Remote Control)
-MIDI instrument creation
-Simplified RFID Door Unlocking Circuits perfect for temporary installations (Dorms, Apartments, etc…)
-RFID card spoofing (hand wrapped coils and microcontrollers)

We’re also planning on being at Maker Faire Detroit 2011 to demonstrate some of these projects. Hope to see you there and make sure to check back for new videos and project write-ups!

Episode #4 Release Date

Episode #4 of The Tech Junkies has finally been completed and will be hitting the site on June 25th (this Thursday). For this episode we built a wasp killing robot that can take down an entire nest via remote operation. Make sure to hit up the site to grab/watch the new episode! We’ve also got some other footage filmed and are actively working on episode #5. Oh and if you haven’t checked it out yet, make sure to visit the TTJ forums (on the nav on the right). We’re looking for show ideas or any other general discussion you have about the show.

New Site Live…Patience While We Build

The Tech Junkies have finally relaunched the site at ttjcrew.com! We are building the next generation of our site to feature all of the projects we work on, videos we shoot, music we record, and any other crazy things that come to mind. We’re currently working on pulling all the episodes up onto Vimeo for streaming directly from our site. We are also actively shooting episode #4 which should be released shortly. We’ve got plenty of projects to document and tons of cool stuff coming in the next few months, so stay tuned!
